The AARP Driver Safety Program offers an interactive, multimedia course that informs seniors about normal age-related changes that affect driving and helps seniors improve their skills. An on-line course is also available. The State of Tennessee requires insurance companies to discount the cost of collision coverage for seniors who complete the course.

Abe's Garden provides personalized services in the comfort of home with a goal of helping families remain in the home. Abe's Garden at Home assists older adults with engagement, activities of daily living, and so much more. The at-home services help older adults remain independent at home and are often an alternative to an assisted living community.

Hospice care can be provided in patient's homes, at the Alive Hospice Residence, at assisted living, independent living and long-term care facilities; and in area hospitals. Additionally, Alive Hospice provides palliative care for patients with chronic, life-threatening illness who desire comfort care (pain and symptom management) as they pursue curative treatments. As the oldest Jewish service organization in Nashville, B’nai B’rith Maimonides Lodge #46 has a long tradition of service to its members, their families, the Jewish community, and the Nashville community at large. Jewish Community Archives houses the history of the Jewish community of Nashville which began with "five families and eight young men" in 1851. The Archive of the Jewish Federation serves as the repository of this history. It is a collection of the stories, records, photographs, and documents of the families that settled and grew in Nashville as well as the businesses and organizations that have made Nashville strong and vibrant.

JFS Nashville offers confidential counseling services for individuals, couples, families, and children/teens at a private location inside the JCC. Most insurance plans including Medicare are accepted, and a sliding scale is offered.

JFS Nashville provides financial assistance to the Jewish community in Middle Tennessee. Assistance is available on a limited basis to individuals who qualify. A financial assessment is required. JFS can assist individuals in a financial crisis with food, utilities and rent/mortgage. JFS cannot assist with medications, health care expenses and legal fees.

JFS Nashville provides grief counseling to individuals and families of all ages. Most insurance plans are accepted and a sliding scale fee is offered. Bereavement support groups are offered when there is sufficient interest.

JFS Helping Hands matches trained volunteers for one-on-one visits with seniors in their homes or by telephone. Helping Hands Music and Art Programs offer one-on-one visits with a trained facilitator to those living with dementia to promote creativity and well-being.

JFS's Helping Hands program offers companionship and friendship for isolated seniors and people with disabilities. By matching a volunteer with a Helping Hands client, JFS volunteers provide in person visits or regular telephone calls, through which a baseline of friendship, care and concern is maintained. Visits are tailored to the older adult’s interests and may include activities such as discussing current events, playing cards, reading a book or the newspaper, or listening to music together. All volunteers are trained and undergo a background check.

JFS Nashville's program, Jacob's Ladder, is a group of volunteers who help seniors with assistance for small tasks that require the use of a ladder (such as changing smoke detector batteries and light bulbs).

JFS Nashville's Kosher Food Program provides once monthly supplemental kosher food delivery to homes via Shipt to eligible individuals/families.

The Sandi Goldstein Learn and Lunch Program is a collaboration between West End Synagogue and Congregation Sherith Israel. Twice a month, WES hosts a local Jewish professional from one of the two synagogues. The program is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month and a kosher lunch is provided for a small fee.

Tennessee Caregiver Coalition provides relief to families and caregivers from the extraordinary and intensive demands of providing ongoing care. They can assist in locating respite care for your individual or family needs.

In 1984, the Tennessee state legislature created the Tennessee Holocaust Commission by passing a bill with the purpose of educating others about and commemorating the Holocaust. In 1996, new legislation recreated the commission to recognize its primary role as education and to create a parallel not-for- profit body. This agency's Commissioners, appointed by the governor, function as part of the commission as a whole. The Commission provides a variety of educational services and opportunities which include resources, workshops, conferences, exhibits, learning and in-service seminars, as well as publications for the educational and general community.

Thank Goodness It's Thursday (TGIT) at the GJCC is a weekly community lunch in the Senior Lounge from 11:30 to 1:30. The program is open to members of the GJCC for a $5 fee and to non-members for a $10 fee. The program consists of a kosher lunch, socialization and an educational program or entertainment.

The Sunny Day Club is for people living with dementia/Alzheimer’s to give their caregivers 3 hours of respite time each week. Club Members engage in fun activities, experience lots of laughter and are showered with love while in attendance. The day focuses on what the attendees CAN DO and enjoy while they are with us.

The Sunny Day Club® allows caregivers a block of time each week to run errands or rest–whatever they need! Caregivers can also attend a Share and Care Group on the second Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers provide one-on-one attention. They lead singing, exercises, games, and crafts. Training is provided, and volunteers commit to a background check and regular attendance based on personal schedules.

The mission of The Sunny Day Club is to provide social interaction, stimulation and friendship in a caring, safe environment for those experiencing early stages of memory loss, as well as provide respite for the caregivers. Sunny Day allows the caregiver a known block of time that they can count on to run errands, grocery shop, rest, etc. just to keep the household going. The members who come get a social outing, physical and mental exercise, acceptance as well as new friends.

The Temple Congregation Ohabai Sholom is a Reform congregation providing numerous adult education programs and social action opportunities throughout the year. Golden Lunch Bunch for seniors is held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Please see website for more information.

In coordination with Jewish Family Service, a senior lunch is held twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 11:30-1:30. A kosher style lunch is provided for a $5 fee along with entertainment and socialization. Trader Joe's in Belle Meade carries fresh kosher poultry, meat, challah and wine.

Uber and Uber Assist offers rideshare transportation with options for seniors and those with disabilities. Check with Medicare for doctor appts.

UberEasts offers food delivery from local restaurants and retail establishments.

United Cerebral Palsy provides gently used medical equipment for individuals in need. They also accept gently used medical equipment.

Vanderbilt Hillel is dedicated to building Jewish communities in a variety of formats through empowering students to follow their interests. Jewish Vanderbilt students are encouraged to explore all aspects of Judaism and Jewish life, from Shabbat dinners to alternative break programs and everything in between. The Ben Schulman Center for Jewish Life is a hub for the more than 1,000 Jewish students at Vanderbilt and at surrounding Universities and colleges in the Middle Tennessee area.

Villa Maria Manor offers independent living for low income seniors.

West End Synagogue, originally Khal Kodesh Adath Israel and known for a while as the Gay Street Synagogue, is a Conservative congregation in Nashville, dating back to the 1850s.

West End Synagogue offers ongoing programs for seniors. Their Lunch & Learn Program is a kosher catered lunch that meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month for a small fee. A yearly Senior Shabbat dinner is free to members, and non-members are welcome for a small fee. Please visit website for more information.
